Route 66 Electronics Contracts LLC*

*Our contracting subsidiary to the Route 66 Controllers family
Your one-stop solution to consultation, sketching, design, prototyping, and technology transfer.

Fast delivery of electrical/mechanical R&D designs, simulations, finite element analysis, and prototypes of your ideas.  We have a network of top PhD design engineers.  Consider us your remote R&D.  Since 2005, we have designed, developed, and transferred dozens of high-tech power converter systems including motor drives, dc/dc, inverters, industrial UPS systems, battery chargers, automotive traction drives, and aerospace ground support and onboard chargers/drives.  Some of which you might have had interactions with.

Gain full custody of your IP and patentable designs protected under an NDA

Our value proposition is to offer an unbeatable R&D in the sense of expertise, speed, and cost.  However, without a full transfer of IP rights, patents, and technology training, an external R&D won’t be an asset to you.  We transfer all the design files, codes, sketches, rights, and training material to our clients and offer support all the way to certification and commercialization.  Additionally, we protect our clients’ identities and ideas through NDAs.

Inventive Elements

We work with clients to conceptualize and sketch a patentable design based on their ideas.  Our unique and state-of-the-art designs are manufacturing relevant and patent-worthy.   We offer free consultation with our clients to identify if their idea is feasible, develop preliminary sketches, and come up with a contract, pricing, and timeline.  We notify our clients if their idea is patentable or can become a product protected by IP rights.  In all cases, we transfer all the rights including reproduction rights to our clients.

State-of-the-Art Design

Majority of our design engineers are university professors who work with us on project-basis.  The lead engineer of Route 66 Controls, Dr. Shamsi, has more than 20 years of experience in the design and development of power converters and is also a faculty at a leading engineering school.  Hence, we offer the most recent technologies in the field of power electronics and control. We transfer all of the electrical design files, simulations, mechanical CAD files, and codes to our clients.

Prototyping

We offer prototyping in three forms.  Some clients need a low-cost fully-functional prototype for fund raising and investor identification.  Other clients are firms who need a manufacturing relevant prototype to seek certifications and commercialization.  Lastly, some engineering firms require custom-made converter for testing, demonstrations, and validations of their systems and the product will be a one-off.  We are very flexible and offer electrical and mechanical services for all of the above scenarios.

The Sooner You Contact Us, the Sooner We Can Start.

Our aim is to deliver most design projects within 6 months of the starting date.  The sooner you contact us, the faster we can deliver your project.

Our Custom Design Process

We offer idea development, design, analysis, prototyping, up to low volume manufacturing.

Sketch

Idea development and technology selection based on client needs. Wide bandgap semiconductors, advanced topologies, system integration, terrestrial and aerial solutions, air and liquid cooled, sealed IP68 solutions, smart controllers, remote monitoring and management through IoT GSM, ...

Design

We offer electrical and mechanical design of hardware, software, and system integration. Based on the needs of our clients, we have expert design engineers utilizing Altium, Eagle, Ansys FEM, Matlab for electrical, and Ansys, IcePak (thermal), Solidworks, Fusion 360 for mechanical design and analysis. We can design up to SIL 3/ASIL-D.

Prototype and Code

We have electrical and mechanical tools to develop various prototypes of up to 2MW and to IP68 rating. In addition, we have a local machining partner to develop larger mechanical structures. We comply with various standards including UL1741 for hardware and safety critical standards such as UL1998 for software.

Test and Tech Transfer

We have local testing capabilities of up to 500kW for converters and 300kW for drives. We can provide higher power testing services at our client facilities. Training, documentation, full design file transfer are among tech transfer services we provide. We often send engineers to our client facilities for final testing and deployment.
